Long Island’s Changing Population Interactive Chart :: The Rauch Foundation has been a client for many years, most often through their Long Island Index project—a source that gathers reliable, objective data on the Long Island region. Types of data-driven pieces that I have designed, illustrated and animated for the Long Island Index include infographics, data visualizations and issue-specific reports.
This interactive chart was created with a long-time collaborator, Yi Liu. “Long Island’s Changing Population” tracks population growth across Long Island from 1800 to 2008. The intro animation illustrates the population growth overview story, while the expanded interactive timeline allows viewers to control nearly a century of comparative, demographic data—and explore down to a granular, town-by-town level.
